“You yourself are the eternal energy which appears as this universe. You didn’t come into this world. You came out of it, like a wave from the ocean. You are not a stranger here.”

― Alan Watts

Vision & Mission

School for Yoga & Life-Art approaches Yoga as a spiritual Life-Art that integrates body, mind, heart, spirit and soul. We are not religious and we warmly welcome people from all walks of life, gender, religion and sexuality. We expect our students to have an open mind and heart, and the willingness to explore their inner and outer world. Don’t reject; don’t accept; contemplate.

We encourage our students to be their most authentic self, so that they inspire others to do the same. Taking responsibility for our own lives and the footprint we leave on Mother Earth is another important aspect of our schools mission.

In accordance with the laws of Nature and Universe, we see Yoga as an ever evolving Life-Art practice and valuable system for the cultivation of awareness and self growth. We acknowledge the teachings of Traditional Tantra Yoga, passing on to our students the history and philosophy as derived from its original sources.

In the modern world Yoga has been evolving into a merely physical fitness practice. Although there is nothing wrong with a good sweaty workout- and we promise you, there will be plenty of that- we aim to teach our students the full scope of Yoga practice and philosophy. Meditation is at the heart of this practice and the ultimate goal is to accept and merge all aspects of the Self, overcoming the state of seperation and confusion that most of us struggle with in life.

What makes our Yoga Teacher Training unique, is the integration of shaman-inspired Natural Life-Art practices in the curriculum. By celebrating seasonal events, new and full moon rituals and the 5 elements, we honor the cyclical nature of the divine feminine- also known as Shakti. The rituals and celebrations allow us to restore our connection with Mother Nature, something that many of us have lost in the rat-race of our modern lifes.

Curriculum

Jala neti- Ayurvedic nasal hygiene practice to eliminate mucus and bacteria, prevent disease and improve overall quality of breath and meditation.

Asana practice – In the morning we practice dynamic hatha and vinyasa yoga. Starting with basic elementary sequences (inspired by earth, water, fire, air, ether) we build up to more advanced and challenging poses (vinyasa krama) as we progress through the weeks.

The afternoon class will focus on traditional tantra yoga. Cultivating ultimate relaxation of the whole system to flow deeper into meditation. Slow flow and Yin inspired classes will also be offered once or twice a week.

Meditation – we start and end most asana classes with meditation. Different meditation techniques will be offered during the evening program and morning workshops as well.

Pranayama and the subtle body – is integrated in most asana practices. Extra theory classes will take you deeper into the physical, energetical and spiritual aspects of the subtle body and chakra system.

Embodied Anatomy- is offered three times a week. These practical workshops will give you fundamental understanding of the skeletal, muscular and nervous systems, how to read a body and most importantly- how to safely guide students through a yoga class, assisting them according to their unique needs.

Yoga & Tantra Philosophy- classes will touch the 8 limbs of Yoga as taught by Patanjalli (commonly accepted as the main yoga philosophy). We will also dive into traditional tantra yoga philosophy and the fundamentals of ayurveda.

History- of yoga and tantra, from ancient to modern times. We will look at how the teachings from the Hinduist traditions developed and moved to the West, how western culture influenced the spiritual and philosophical aspects and formed the lifestyle-trend yoga is today.

Teaching Methodology- this is where we’ll get very practical, handing you clear tools on how to teach, how to queue and how to theme your classes and workshops.

Practicum- will be integrated in the morning asana practice, giving all students the opportunity to teach parts of the classes and get comfortable with instructing. You will be encouraged to practice in small groups in your free time as well, especially when the exams approach.

Professional development & personal coaching- prepares you for the profession of yoga-teacher. Themes such as ethics, cultural and sexual awareness will be discussed. We will also look at marketing styles- how to build your business and balance financial and spiritual ideals and goals. Every student will have access to personal coaching sessions with members of the teacher team, to discuss any challenges and personal issues that may arise.
